Family Self Sufficiency
Assisting families in achieving economic independence!
The Family Self Sufficiency Program (FSS) is exclusively available to Housing Choice Voucher Assistance program participants and was developed to promote economic self sufficiency to our clients.
The goal of the FSS program is to assist you in meeting your educational, career and personal goals. We partner together to set, and attain goals for your future!
Together with the FSS Coordinator you will develop a plan that will outline the steps you need to take to reach your final goal of self sufficiency. Your goals will reflect your aspirations for you and your family's future.
Through FSS, participants who reach employment goals are rewarded with a monetary incentive program, the FSS escrow account. This account has been the catalyst to homeownership for several families.
The FSS program offers monthly workshops including topics such as parenting, CPR training, financial fitness, nutrition and many more presentations to assist families in reaching their goals!
Combining participation in the FSS program and the Section 8 Homeownership Voucher program is a recipe for success! Collaborating the resources of these programs makes Homeownership a reality for clients.
Since 2000, 76 families have graduated the Family Self Sufficiency program.
